The National Youth Concert Orchestra (part of the National Symphony) presents a regular concert, “Dvořák, Symphony No.8,” on November 25 at Sejong Center for the Performing Arts. Under the theme “Autumn’s Language, Melodies of Freedom,” the program opens with Smetana’s opera overture The Bartered Bride (an opera about a village girl and a wandering youth), followed by Schumann’s Cello Concerto featuring soloist Tae-guk Moon, highlighting intimate expressions of freedom. The concert closes with Dvořák’s Symphony No.8, a work composed in autumn noted for its formal freedom and its romantic Bohemian (Bohemia: a historical region in Central Europe) landscapes where nature and humanity coexist. Conductor Yu-won Kim, recognized as a rising conductor by the American Orchestra Association in 2022, said the program will present the composers’ free melodies through KNCO’s interpretation.
