Seoul Ballet Premieres Mourning Elegy 'Under the Trees' Voices'Creatrip Team
a month ago
Seoul City Ballet premiered choreographer Heo Yong-soon's 'Under the Trees' Voices' at Sejong Center, a contemporary ballet homage to late Italian composer Ezio Bosso. Twelve dancers in vivid costumes weave dynamic, intersecting duets that at moments pause in a poignant gaze, expressing grief and remembrance. Heo used Bosso’s Symphony No.2 and the composer’s recorded words (with Korean subtitles) as inspiration; a male dancer holding a baton represents Bosso while a female lead channels the love and loss linked to actress Alba Parietti. The program is a double bill with Hans van Manen’s intimate 'Kammerballett' ('Kammer' means "small room") and runs through Nov. 2.
