Paldo, a major food company, has released a microwaveable cup version of its popular spicy soup ramen 'Namjaramyeon' (literally 'man's ramen'), which has sold over 120 million units since its 2012 debut. The recipe adds garlic seasoning to the dough and garlic slices to the garnish for a sharp flavor, paired with a beef-broth base for a bold, spicy taste. The new cup uses a microwave-safe container: add hot water and heat for about 2 minutes 30 seconds to achieve a chewy, packet-style noodle texture. Paldo tested the flavor through taste panels and blind tests and plans to expand the brand with a premium packet ramen later this year, plus increased online and offline marketing. The company will also continue community efforts, partnering with Korean baseball player Lee Jung-hoo (MLB San Francisco Giants) to donate 51 boxes of Namjaramyeon monthly to children in need through next September.
