Yoon Sang-deok Appointed as New Director of Gyeongju National Museum

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism appointed Yoon Sang-deok, an expert in Korean archaeology and former head of the Archaeological and Historical Research Department at the National Museum of Korea, as the new director of the Gyeongju National Museum. Yoon, originally from Seoul and a graduate of Seoul National University, has conducted extensive research on Silla (an ancient Korean kingdom) artifacts and tombs. His work includes significant studies on 6th and 7th-century Silla pottery and the Gyeongju Gyerim-ro Sword. He has also organized major exhibitions, including "The Golden Kingdom: Silla" at the Met in New York. His recent projects include overseeing exhibitions relating to the Hapsburg dynasty and curating new permanent exhibits featuring Korean prehistoric and ancient times.
