Spring Comes to Bondi: 'Sculpture by the Sea' and Jacaranda Season in SydneyCreatrip Team
a month ago
Bondi Beach in Sydney transforms into an open-air gallery each November as the world’s largest coastal sculpture exhibition, Sculpture by the Sea (Bondi), runs along the 2km coastal walk from Bondi to Tamarama with about 90 works from 13 countries on free display. The festival, now in its 27th year, includes award-winning pieces such as James Rogers’ Siren’s Song, which blends themes of humans, nature and sound. Concurrently, Sydney’s spring sees the purple bloom of jacaranda (Jacaranda) trees—often called “Sydney’s second cherry blossom season”—with the popular Jacaranda Trail running from the Royal Botanic Garden through Circular Quay, The Rocks, Paddington and Kirribilli, offering iconic photo spots and leisurely activities like picnics and brunches. On the New South Wales North Coast, Grafton hosts the long-standing Grafton Jacaranda Festival with parades, night markets, performances and a Jacaranda Queen pageant. Visitors are advised to enjoy the lively but brief November spring before the December summer rush.
