Korean Restaurants Shine at La Liste Awards Celebrating Global Top 1000Creatrip Team
a month ago
At the La Liste awards held in Incheon Paradise City, Korean chefs proudly received the golden plate trophies recognizing restaurants in the global top 1000. La Liste, a Paris-founded restaurant ranking system launched in 2015, aggregates scores from 11,000 sources—including major media, guidebooks, and online platforms like TripAdvisor and Yelp—assigning weights and converting them into objective rankings. Ten percent of the score reflects actual customer reviews, distinguishing La Liste from the Michelin Guide’s anonymous inspector ratings. This year Korea had a record number of entries and a grand ceremony (contrasting last year’s modest embassy event), reflecting the growing international status of Korean cuisine (hansik). Renowned international chefs attended, and Korean chefs photographed with them. Stephanie Kim, La Liste’s global director, who helped launch the awards, said she was moved to see Korean chefs take center stage. Notable Korean winners included Kwon Sooksoo, La Yeon, Mosu, Mingles, Soul, and Jungsik among others; the full ranked list will be revealed at La Liste’s Paris ceremony in November.
