The Korea Hanwoo Association will mark “Hanwoo Day” on November 1 with nationwide promotions called “Korea Eats Hanwoo Day.” Major supermarkets and online retailers will offer discounts on hanwoo (Korean beef) — up to 65% off — from Oct. 28 to Nov. 10, while a central event at Hanaro Mart Yangjae runs Oct. 31–Nov. 2 with auctions, tastings of bulgogi and neobiani (thin skirt steak), a live cooking show by chef Cha Min-wook, giveaways, and 300 servings of hanwoo gomtang (beef bone soup) distributed at the opening. Participating suppliers will sell 1st-grade hanwoo at promotional prices (e.g., sirloin 7,600 KRW/100g, brisket 3,800 KRW/100g, bulgogi 2,600 KRW/100g). The association established Nov. 1 as Hanwoo Day in 2008 to celebrate hanwoo as a national cultural heritage; details and local festival listings are on the association’s website. (Note: discount periods may vary by seller.)
