Hyundai Green Food, a food company under Hyundai Department Store Group, received a presidential commendation—the first in the institutional catering sector—for contributions to the development of the food and foodservice industry. The award, given by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, recognizes organizations that boost the national economy and farmers’ incomes. Hyundai Green Food was praised for its care-food research and for actively using domestic agricultural and marine products across institutional catering and food distribution. In 2020 the company launched Korea’s first care-food brand "GREATING" (care foods tailored for patients) and leads the medifood market with 247 products for conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, cancer, and kidney disease; medifoods require approval under the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety. The company also uses domestic produce across some 650 catering sites—serving about 750,000 meals daily—and supports young farmers through its "Cheongnyeon Sagye" (youth agriculture support) program to expand sales channels, provide consulting and modern farming education.
