K-water Launches Train Tours Linking Dams and Railways: Seomjingang and Miryang PackagesCreatrip Team

K-water (Korea Water Resources Corporation) has teamed up with Korail, Imsil County, and Miryang City to launch two dam-focused train travel packages: “Healing Okjeongho along the Seomjin River (Seomjingang Dam)” and “Sound of Water, Scenery of Miryang (Miryang Dam).” Building on a pilot dam tour earlier this year, K-water used its environmental big data platform to integrate dam facility and local tourism data with Korail ridership, KTX access, and festival schedules to select Seomjingang Dam in Imsil and Miryang Dam as ideal destinations. The community-centered tours run regional shuttle buses, include local-government-led incentives and special programs, and highlight nearby attractions—Seomjingang route visits Iksan Station, the “King’s Forest” (refers to the royal forest of King Taejo Wang Geon), Imsil Cheese Theme Park, Yosan Park, and lakeside views of Okjeongho; Miryang route starts at Miryang Station, visits Pyochungsa Temple (Gyeongnam Monument No.17), the Miryang Dam observatory, the cultural platform “Mirimidongguk,” and local festivals. Participants receive souvenir packages of regional specialties. Reservations are through Korail’s website; Seomjingang tours run twice weekly (Fri–Sat) from late October to Dec 31, and Miryang tours operate on three specific November dates. K-water says the program aims to reframe dams as restful, cultural assets and to promote sustainable, community-linked tourism.
