British trumpeter Matilda Lloyd (30) arrived in Seoul to perform with the National Symphony Orchestra at Seoul Arts Center (예술의전당) on the 1st. Lloyd, who has played Haydn’s Trumpet Concerto in E-flat major — familiar to Korean audiences from the Netflix series "Squid Game" opening and the quiz show "Janghak Quiz" — for 15 years, said she is thrilled to rehearse with the orchestra and meet Korean audiences. As a woman in a male-dominated brass field, Lloyd noted that physical factors like body size, lung capacity, and embouchure (the way a player uses their lips) matter more than gender, and she hopes female trumpeters will become commonplace in the future.
