Kim Juwon and Park Jungwan, former Amorepacific researchers, founded Imiin in 2006 and helped spark Korea’s mask-pack (sheet mask) boom by developing high-absorption cellulose and hydrogel sheets. The company built proprietary manufacturing processes and holds 24 patents across materials and formulations. Imiin automated hydrogel production, now supplying over 80% of certain hydrogel and eye-patch items sold by U.S. indie brands on Amazon. Backed by IMM’s investment, revenue rose from KRW 60.5 billion in 2019 to KRW 121.7 billion last year, with strong profit growth. The founders plan to expand into skin care products using unique formulations and a second factory (2027) to raise annual output from 230 million to 500 million units, targeting niche demand and U.S. offline retailers like Ulta Beauty, Costco, and Walmart as K-beauty gains traction.
