KT CEO Kim Young-seop to Testify at Parliamentary Audit Amid Calls for Full Waiver of PenaltiesCreatrip Team
a month ago
KT CEO Kim Young-seop is scheduled to appear as a witness at a parliamentary comprehensive audit after a recent hacking and unauthorized small-payment (micro-payment) incident. Lawmakers and civic groups are pressuring KT to fully waive early-termination penalties for all customers and to replace SIM cards (USIM) company-wide; KT so far offers penalty waivers, refunds, and SIM replacements only to about 20,000 confirmed victims. KT previously said it would decide on broader waivers after a public-private investigation, but consumer groups and surveys urge immediate, comprehensive compensation. The audit will probe possible false testimony and evaluate what additional measures the CEO will announce. Kim has acknowledged CEO responsibility and said he would take reasonable accountability after resolving the issue.
