The Daegwallyeong Music Festival launches its curated “4-Color Concert” tour blending traditional Korean music with jazz, classical and contemporary forms across Gangwon province. The opening show on the 30th at KT&G Sangsangmadang Chuncheon features cello-gayageum duo CelloGayageum (Austrian cellist Kim Solda Daniel and Korean gayageum player Yoon Da-young) performing pieces like “Extraordinary Cowboy,” “Fisherman,” and evocative tunes using the traditional rhythmic pattern eotmori-jangdan (엇모리장단). Contemporary Korean ensemble Bando (featuring geomungo, guitar, saxophone, and drums) explores Korea’s musical identity through geography-inspired works such as “East Sea (Donghae),” “Mist (Aengae),” and “Road (Gil).” The tour continues with genre-crossing acts: piano ensemble Frank Dufree Trio in Hoengseong (Nov 7), dance-orchestra hybrid Bara Loft in Samcheok (Nov 8), and the crossover choir Harmonize closing in Donghae (Dec 11). Tickets are 30,000 KRW with discounts for Gangwon residents.
