Tongyeong Bridge Transformed into Sea-side Art InstallationCreatrip Team
a month ago
Tongyeong Bridge, which links Tongyeong city and Mireukdo Island in South Gyeongsang Province, has been revitalized as a ‘sea-side artwork.’ The city spent 4 billion won since March to reinforce the bridge—originally opened in 1998—against sea wind and salt corrosion, and painted a new rendition of local artist Jeon Hyuk-rim’s work “Pungyeoje” (풍어제, a traditional Korean ritual praying for a good catch) on the bridge’s arch. The project aims to enhance safety and celebrate Tongyeong’s cultural heritage. Photo credit: Tongyeong City. 2025.10.28.
