Seeing with Senses: Theater 'Last Hope' Explores Nonvisual PerceptionCreatrip Team
a month ago
The Chilean ensemble Colectivo Cuerpo Sur brings Last Hope to Seoul’s Modo Arts Theater from Nov 14–16. The piece stars Hilda Snippe, who has only 1% vision, and performer Ébana Garín. Instead of relying on sight, the production maps the world through touch, sound and memory, inviting audiences to experience “seeing without seeing.” Snippe, a long‑time accessibility and inclusion activist and chair of the Leeuwarden (Netherlands) accessibility working group, helped shape the show around a sensory reimagining of her dream of traveling the Andean snowfields (Andes). The play premiered to strong acclaim in Chile. Modo Arts Theater is Korea’s first standard venue for disability arts, run by the Korea Disabled Arts and Culture Center (a public foundation under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism), which promotes barrier‑free performances and priority access for disabled artists. Tickets cost 30,000 KRW and are available via the theater website and NOL Ticket.
