The Changwon Jindong Midoduck Festival, celebrating a unique Korean spring delicacy, has been cancelled this year. Midoduck, known for its distinctive aromatic taste and crunchy texture, suffers from reduced production due to high water temperatures attributed to climate change. It's primarily produced in Changwon, comprising 70% of South Korea's output. Unlike 'Omandongi', which looks similar but is cheaper and eaten with its skin, midoduck requires peeling before consumption. The festival, normally held around May to highlight this unique local product, cannot proceed this year due to insufficient midoduck supply.
