The South Korean government will streamline and centralize channels for reporting tourist overcharging (“baggage fares”/price gouging) and introduce QR-code-based easy reporting. From Oct 24, local hotlines will be linked via “area code + 120” to the national tourist complaint center (1330), so reports are quickly passed to local governments and agencies for on-site checks and possible sanctions. Tourists can also scan QR-codes on maps, guidebooks, posters and online platforms (e.g., Visit Korea) to file instant complaints without time or location limits. Officials said the move aims to protect tourism trust and competitiveness by ensuring swift investigation and follow-up actions in cooperation with local authorities.
