The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport will hold the 12th International Public Transport Policy Forum on Oct. 29 at KINTEX, Ilsan. Domestic and international transport experts from academia, industry and research will discuss integrating advanced technologies into public transport to tackle mobility challenges. The bilingual (Korean-English) event will be livestreamed on the ministry’s and the Korean Society of Transportation’s YouTube channels. The forum theme is "Transforming Tomorrow: Public Transports as the Catalyst for Change," with three sessions: 1) "Speed Revolution in Public Transport" (including talks on the GTX-A commuter line and software strategies to manage congestion and service levels), 2) "AI and Public Transport" (covering AI applications and autonomous vehicles), and 3) "Fare Policy and Technological Innovation" (including MaaS and contactless, tagless fare payment by T-money). Keynote speakers include Jarrett Walker (Jarrett Walker+ Associates) on redesigning accessible networks and Ajou University President Choi Ki-ju on AI-era transport policy. The ministry emphasized using forum outcomes to apply advanced transport technologies and services across Korea and East Asia to address regional transport problems.
