The “Nim-ui Chimmuk (Silence of the Beloved)” Invitational Calligraphy Exhibition opened on the 28th at Yeochoso Calligraphy Hall in Inje, marking 100 years since Manhae’s completion of the poem. Organized by the Kangwon Domin Ilbo and supported by Inje County, the show features about 60 invited master calligraphers—winners from the Manhae Festival’s Nim-ui Chimmuk Calligraphy Competition—displaying new works through November 1. Top Korean calligraphers interpret Manhae Han Yong-un’s poems and writings, local Inje poets’ modern verses, and classical Chinese-style poems about Inje’s nature and customs, expressing both the poet’s literary spirit and the region’s cultural identity. To broaden public access, a parallel “Taste Calligraphy in Inje Restaurants” display places works by six invited artists in five local eateries (traditional restaurants), allowing visitors to enjoy calligraphy alongside Gangwon province’s regional cuisine. The exhibition also includes pieces referencing Inje-born poets like Park In-hwan and features works titled “Dangsin-i Anideumyeon,” “Cheonghyo,” and “Hongmae.” The opening ceremony is scheduled for the 29th at 2 PM.
