Visit Gangneung: Gangwon Tourism Foundation Names City a Special November–December DestinationCreatrip Team
a month ago
Gangwon Province and the Gangwon Tourism Foundation have added Gangneung as a “special recommended” travel destination for November–December to revive tourism after summer drought-related losses. The campaign highlights cultural and experiential sites such as the Heo Gyun & Heo Nanseolheon Memorial Park (honoring the authors Heo Gyun and the poet Heo Nanseolheon), the Gangneung Metaverse Experience Center (an immersive digital attraction), and the ARTE Museum Gangneung (immersive media art). Food and leisure spots promoted include Chodang Tofu Village (초당순두부마을) for jjambbong tofu and tofu gelato, and Anmok Coffee Street (안목카페거리) for seaside coffee. To boost visits, the foundation is running marketing events including a lodging discount promotion with an online travel platform offering up to 30,000 won coupons. Pyeongchang and Inje were already selected as November features, with local products like highland cabbage and dried pollack also being promoted. The foundation says these measures aim to revive the local tourism economy and restore Gangneung’s vibrancy.
