The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries has released two ready-to-cook meal kits to boost consumption of abalone, a representative Korean seafood. Developed with Chinese-cuisine master Chef Jung Ji-sun, the kits are “Gim (seaweed) Sauce Abalone Bibim-myeon” and “Black Vinegar Rice Bowl with Abalone.” Both use domestic abalone and gim (seaweed) for a chewy texture and unique flavors, and include the chef’s special sauces for convenience and taste. The products are currently sold on platforms like Naver Shopping and 11st; a cooking video by Chef Jung will be posted on the ministry’s and the chef’s YouTube channels on Oct. 28. Wider retail rollout will begin in early November at select stores and major supermarkets. The ministry said it will continue collaborations to make Korean seafood easy and enjoyable at home.
