Im Yoon-mi Wins Grand Prize at Gangwon Emerging Artists ContestCreatrip Team
a month ago
At the opening of the '2025 Eco Art Fair FLOW' held at the Gangwon Design Center, Im Yoon-mi won the grand prize in the inaugural 'Small Flow, Big Wave' contest for emerging Gangwon artists. The competition, organized by the Gangwon Domin Ilbo, aimed to discover and support young local artists (under 39 and with no more than one solo show). Ten artists were selected with the Gangwon University art department and Gaenari Museum (개나리 미술관) as collaborators. The grand prize includes a solo exhibition at Gaenari Museum in 2026, offering practical support for continued activity. Im’s work, described as having a 'night' tone, uses traditional East Asian painting materials—ink, charcoal, and white pigment—to evoke blurred memories and the boundary between reality and the unreal. A farmer and artist based in Pyeongchang, Im said the award encouraged her to continue making art. The group exhibition runs through next month 2 at the Gangwon Design Center (3–4 exhibition halls).
