The 'Forest Bread Market' at Elysian Gangchon Resort in Chuncheon closed successfully after a two-day run that attracted over 30,000 visitors. Launched in October and held for the third time this May, the festival featured about 100 bakeries and flea-market vendors to help local bakers and small businesses from Gangwon province expand sales. Popular items sold out early. Organizers promoted ESG (environmental, social, governance) practices with eco-friendly cups, busking performances, and various events. A receipt-based promotion (영수증 이벤트) allowed shoppers who spent over 30,000 won to enter prize draws for stays and other rewards. The festival highlighted direct access via the Gyeongchun Line train connecting Baekyang-ri Station to the venue—marketed as a “take the train” bread festival—to attract Seoul and metropolitan visitors. Organizers plan to expand vendor participation and visitor-focused events for next year’s edition in May.
