Namwon, in Jeollabuk-do, draws visitors this fall with flower fields, cultural sites and romantic nightscapes. Daytime highlights include Sinseong Village’s 3-hectare flower beds of pink muhly (핑크뮬리), kochia (코키아), cosmos and pampas grass — a popular “must-take” photo spot — and the nearby historic wooden Seodo Station, used as a drama filming location. The city’s Kim Byung-jong Museum of Art (김병종미술관) displays about 100 works by the celebrated local artist plus regional art and a 2,000-book collection, and entrance is free. At night, the classical garden Gwanghalluwon (광한루원) becomes illuminated with lanterns (청사초롱), LED roses and a lively night market and busking stage; after 6 p.m. entry is free. Local experiences include traditional rickshaw rides, a museum of local life (Namwon-Daum Hall), immersive media art at Namwon Fiorium, and regional cuisine such as chueotang (추어탕) with local liquor ‘Hwangjini’. Festivals this October — including a drone-robot festival and the national heritage night walk — have added to the autumn atmosphere, but the city’s day-and-night attractions remain reasons to visit through the season.
