Seoul-based auction houses Seoul Auction and K-Auction will hold October sales totaling about 20 billion won (≈200억 원), showcasing blue-chip Korean and international modern artists amid a sluggish art market. Seoul Auction’s sale on Oct. 28 offers 112 lots (low estimate ~8.3 billion won), highlighted by Yayoi Kusama’s Infinity Nets (start price 2 billion won) and Kim Whanki’s 1973 dot painting (estimated 560–800 million won). Other lots include Kim Chong-yul’s ‘Droplets’ (estimated 320–500 million won) and Woo Kook-won’s ‘Big Adventure’. K-Auction’s Oct. 29 sale lists 88 lots (total ~10.6 billion won) with major mono-painting masters such as Park Seo-bo, Lee Ufan, Ha Chong-hyun, and Yun Hyong-keun. K-Auction’s top lot is Lee Ufan’s ‘With the Wind S8708-5’ (1987), estimated 900 million–1.5 billion won. Works by Chun Kyung-ja, Park Seo-bo’s red “Myobeop” paintings, Ha Chong-hyun’s ‘Jiphap’, and Yun Hyong-keun’s ‘Umber-Blue’ are also featured. All lots are available for free preview at each auction house until sale day. (mono-painting: Korean modern art movement focused on single-color canvases)
