The Korea Popular Music Performance Industry Association condemned the Korea Sports Promotion Foundation for announcing a repair plan for the 88 Lawn (88잔디마당) in Olympic Park without consulting the music industry. The foundation said it will reseed turf and improve drainage from July 2026 to June 2027, affecting the 33,000㎡ outdoor lawn used for large festivals like the Seoul Jazz Festival and Grand Mint Festival. The association warned that major 2026 festivals and concerts could be canceled, and accused the foundation of treating cultural partners as revenue sources rather than collaborators. It also criticized a contract granting naming rights for the Olympic Park Handball Gymnasium that allegedly forces 50% ticket allocation to one ticketing agency, calling it unfair and a violation of the industry’s autonomy. The association pledged to hold the public agency accountable and demanded the repair plan be reexamined through proper consultation.
