The Ha Jung-woong Museum in Yeongam will host a special exhibition, "South Jeolla Painters Who Shaped Korean Art," from Oct. 27 to Dec. 7, commemorating the Korean Hanok Culture Biennale. The show presents 26 works by six influential modern painters from Jeonnam, including Kim Whanki and Chun Kyung-ja—who expanded Korean abstract art internationally—and local masters Kim Jeong-hyeon, O Ji-ho, Heo Baek-ryeon, and Heo Geon. Major loans were secured from institutions such as Gwangju Museum of Art and Seoul OCI Museum, allowing visitors to trace the development of Korean modern art and the rich artistic tradition of the Namdo (South Jeolla) region. The museum will offer guided programs and cultural events to deepen public understanding. Yeongam’s county head hopes the exhibition, alongside the hanok (traditional Korean house) culture biennale, will nourish visitors’ cultural pride and appreciation of regional art.
