The South Korean government unveiled a comprehensive plan to boost K-food exports to $15 billion by 2030. At a ministerial meeting held at Samyang Foods’ Milyang plant, officials including Prime Minister Kim Min-seok and Agriculture Minister Song Mi-ryeong discussed four main strategies: identifying promising products and diversifying markets, one-stop support to resolve exporters’ issues, integrating K-initiatives (K-culture links) into promotion, and advancing digital and food-tech innovation. The plan targets tailored support for key regions, entry into special markets like halal, vegan and kosher, expanded logistics and export finance, and global promotion through content and events including K-food experience opportunities for foreign tourists (K-misik belt). Agriculture R&D and new domestic crop varieties will support safety and market requirements. Minister Song noted exports grew 6.3% year-on-year through Q3 and urged coordinated, detailed implementation with industry input.
