Sejong Center presents “Everyone’s Classical — Tchaikovsky and Ballet Music” on November 18 at the Sejong Center Grand Theater in Seoul. The program features famous ballet pieces by Tchaikovsky, including selections from The Nutcracker (‘Mini Overture’ and ‘Waltz of the Flowers’), Sleeping Beauty (‘Waltz’), and Swan Lake (‘Dance of the Swans’ and ‘Finale’), alongside a piano concerto with commentary. The Daejeon Philharmonic Orchestra, led by conductor Yeo Ja-kyung (artistic director and chief conductor), will perform with pianist Kim Jun-hyeong (noted for the 2022 ARD Munich competition runner-up) as soloist. German broadcaster and pianist Daniel Lindemann will provide explanations during the concert. This event is part of Sejong’s “Nuguna Classical” (Everyone’s Classical) series, which introduced a pay-what-you-want ticket option in 2024 and will designate around 3,000 seats as “Haengbok Donghaeng Seats” (happiness companionship seats) to make classical music accessible to all citizens.
