The Pavel Haas Quartet, a world-renowned Czech string quartet and five-time Gramophone award winner, will give its fourth concert in Korea on November 11 at Seoul Arts Center Concert Hall as part of the 2025 World Star Series. Formed in 2002, the ensemble — led by first violin Veronika Jaruskova, with cellist Peter Jarusek, second violin Marek Cvibel, and violist Simon Truska — has earned top international honors including the BBC Music Magazine Award and was named among the greatest quartets by BBC Music Magazine. On this visit they will present, for the first time in Korea, a program of Beethoven and Schubert quartets (string quartet repertoire), including Schubert’s String Quartet No.12 in C minor D.703 “Quartettsatz,” Beethoven’s String Quartet No.16 in F major Op.135, and Schubert’s celebrated String Quartet No.14 in D minor D.810 “Death and the Maiden.” The program was highly praised earlier this year at Wigmore Hall in London.
