Shinsegae is staging a children's play "A Slightly Different Pinocchio Told by an Orchestra" featuring Hanbit Ensemble, a music group of visually impaired musicians. First presented last year, the show adapts the Pinocchio tale to follow a blind Pinocchio's adventures as he learns to love himself and understand the value of community. Performances have been held at Banpo Simsan Art Hall, with upcoming shows on the 28th at the National Theater's Sky Theater and on the 22nd of next month at Eunpyeong Arts Center. Shinsegae has supported Hanbit Ensemble since 2010, sponsoring their 20th anniversary concert in 2023; Hanbit was designated a Seoul professional arts corporation in 2018 and has been recognized for excellence in programming. Shinsegae says it will continue cultural sponsorships to promote respect for difference and social inclusion.
