Shinsegae, a major South Korean retailer, is staging a children's adaptation of Pinocchio titled "A Slightly Special Pinocchio Told by the Orchestra," in collaboration with Hanbit Ensemble, the country's only orchestra comprised of visually impaired musicians (한빛예술단). The show emphasizes sharing and inclusion by following a blind Pinocchio's journey to self-acceptance. Live orchestral performance by Hanbit Ensemble is paired with vibrant media art and lighting effects. Following an initial performance at Banpo Simsang Art Hall, additional shows are scheduled at the National Theater's Haneul Theater on the 28th and Eunpyeong Cultural Center next month. Shinsegae says the partnership, ongoing since 2010, aims to expand performance opportunities for disabled artists and promote respect for differences through social contribution programs.
