The National Dance Company of Korea presents this year’s 'Choreographer Project' from Nov. 6–9 at the National Theater, featuring three emerging choreographers selected by open call. Jeong So‑yeon stages 'Beyond,' exploring human–AI coexistence through movements rooted in Korean dance (한국무용) and a mix of Eastern and Western music to ask what human qualities must persist in the AI era. Lee Ji‑hyun’s 'Clothes' examines desire, authority and identity by deconstructing the symbolism of garments and hangers; recurring gestures of dancers folding their arms reflect hidden wants and social relations. Park Soo‑yun’s 'Juk Fest' (Death Fest) reframes death as completion and funerals as celebration, using sound effects (whistles, bells) and a final mirrored scene to invite performers and audience to share a common gaze on mortality. The program emphasizes contemporary expansion of traditional Korean dance vocabulary and provocative themes about technology, identity and ritual.
