Jindo County Links 50th 'Citizens Day' with Bobae Island Culture & Arts Festival

Jindo County in South Jeolla will celebrate its 50th 'Citizens Day' from Oct 31–Nov 2, paired with a special 'Bobae Island (Bobaeseom) Culture & Arts Festival' opening night. The Oct 31 concert at the Hyangto Cultural Center features popular singers Song Ga-in, Mai Jin, Ulala Session, and Choi Jin-hee. The main ceremony on Nov 1 at Jindo Public Stadium includes processions from seven towns, performances by the Jindo County Folklore Arts Troupe and Wonderwomens, awards, speeches, and a large 300-person ganggangsullae (traditional circle dance) celebration. A two-day sports meet will run through Nov 2 with 16 events like athletics, soccer, volleyball, ssireum (Korean wrestling), and tug-of-war. Additional attractions include a children's activity area, local product booths, health promotion, hometown donation and scholarship promotions, and a commemorative message project. Related events: the '2025 Bobae Island Chrysanthemum Festival' at the Jindo Dog Theme Park starting Oct 27, and the '2025 Jindo Goodnight Night Parade'—a parade and participatory street flash mob—on Oct 30.
