K-derma ingredient PDRN now sourced from Korean native plantsCreatrip Team

Cosmecca Korea and Hyundai Bioland announced they have developed PDRN (polydeoxyribonucleotide) ingredients extracted from Korean native plants —byeolggoch (별꽃) and aegibudeul (애기부들)— and filed a domestic patent. Traditionally derived from salmon sperm or reproductive cells, PDRN is gaining popularity in cosmetics for antioxidant and regenerative effects. The plant-derived formula is described as a dual-target, high-performance ingredient: byeolggoch PDRN specializes in soothing, moisturizing, antioxidation, and skin regeneration, while aegibudeul PDRN targets sebum and pores. Tests showed byeolggoch PDRN reduced inflammatory markers (IL-1α, IL-6) by about 19% and 18% and promoted barrier protein expression and antioxidant activity; aegibudeul PDRN increased autophagy marker LC3-II expression by up to 57%. The companies said extraction, fractionation, and purification were done using eco-friendly methods. Cosmecca plans clinical studies and to build regulatory data for global expansion to North America and Europe, aiming to promote these native-plant PDRNs as next-generation K-derma technology.
