Sokcho city in Gangwon Province will host the third annual '2025 Sokcho Food Festival (Masubda Sokcho)' from April 24–26 at the Expo Tower Plaza. Built around the themes of promoting Sokcho’s signature dishes, affordable prices, and eco-friendly practices, the festival showcases local favorites such as squid sundae, makguksu, dakgangjeong, jang-kalguksu, potato ongshimi, mulhoe, and cod (Sokcho’s “7 tastes”), plus creative dishes using regional ingredients like red king crab rice noodles and potato fondue. To minimize waste, organizers will use reusable containers and returns booths as part of a carbon-neutral effort. The opening will feature a giant dakgangjeong mixing performance to be shared with about 200 attendees, along with magic shows, trot music, street performances, an “Archive Food Hall” tracing Sokcho’s past–present–future, and night lighting displays. Mayor Lee said the festival aims to be a signature, community-minded and eco-conscious culinary event with fair prices and a welcoming atmosphere. ("Masubda" is a Gangwon dialect word meaning "delicious.")
