KOLMAR Partners with BASF to Register New Sunscreen Ingredient in KoreaCreatrip Team
2 months ago
KOLMAR (한국콜마) has successfully registered a new sunscreen ingredient with South Korea’s Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) after collaborating with global chemical giant BASF. The ingredient, Tris-biphenyl Triazine, combines chemical UV absorption and ultra-fine particle (physical) reflection to block the full UV spectrum (UV-A and UV-B). Registration follows MFDS’s updated notice taking effect in September 2025, allowing the ingredient’s use in cosmetics. KOLMAR also developed its own ‘UV X-pert Boosting’ technology to ensure even application and a stable, long-lasting protective film on skin. The company plans to commercialize the ingredient and expand partnerships with domestic and international cosmetic brands, aiming to lead the global sunscreen market with this advanced dual-action technology.
