'A Bovine Break' — Hoengseong Hanwoo Festival Opens in Style

The 21st Hoengseong Hanwoo Festival opened October 22–26 under the slogan “A Bovine Break,” celebrating Hoengseong’s premium Hanwoo (Korean beef) raised in clean natural surroundings. Held along the Seomgang riverbank, the five-day event features food zones like the “Hoengseong Hanwoo Guiter” where visitors can sample Hanwoo, night attractions such as the “Seomgang Fantasia Light Show,” and mixed traditional-modern experiences including “Hanuri Folk Village” and “Hanuri Popup Story.” The program includes local art performances, busking, a kids’ ground, consumer craft workshops like Hanwoo craft-making, and a popup zone with traditional liquor brand Kooksoondang (국순당). Organizers aim to boost the Hanwoo brand, attract late-autumn tourists, and stimulate the local economy; Hoengseong County Mayor Kim Myung-gi pledged full hospitality to visitors.
