Gimhae Celebrates Autumn Sweetness with Jinyeong Persimmon Festival

Gimhae city will host the Jinyeong Persimmon Festival from Sept. 31 to Oct. 2 at Jinyeong Public Stadium, celebrating the region’s famous Jinyeong persimmon (진영단감). Jinyeong, where persimmon cultivation began in Korea in 1927, benefits from a mild coastal climate and abundant sunshine, producing sweeter, crisp persimmons rich in vitamins and antioxidants. Now in its 41st year, the festival will feature opening performances, tastings and a persimmon contest, sales, exhibitions, hands-on activities, and live shows. A history exhibit highlights nearly 100 years of persimmon cultivation in the area. Organizers will provide a temporary parking lot and free shuttle service, and a social media promotion through Sept. 26 offers prize draws for participants who share festival materials.
