Pianist Im Yoon-chan will release a live album of his Carnegie Hall performance, featuring Bach's 'Goldberg Variations', on February 6 via Decca Classics. The recording captures his sold-out New York recital from April, and the label has already released the opening 'Aria' on streaming platforms. This is Im's fourth release since signing with Decca in October 2023. Im, who won the Van Cliburn (Van Cliburn International Piano Competition) at 18 as its youngest champion, has earned international acclaim with previous albums including 'Chopin: Etudes' and recordings of Rachmaninoff and Tchaikovsky. Carnegie Hall's director praised the quick decision to invite him after his competition win, noting his emergence as a special artist. Im described the 'Goldberg Variations' as a musical depiction of a person's life journey and said issuing a Carnegie Hall live album has been a longtime dream.
