“Art Only Here” — 2025 Eco Art Fair FLOW Opens in ChuncheonCreatrip Team
2 months ago
The 2025 Eco Art Fair FLOW opened on April 21 at the Gangwon Design Promotion Institute in Chuncheon, showcasing about 300 works by 62 artists across ceramics, painting, sculpture and installation until May 2. Positioned as a regional cultural destination, the fair responds to young people's demand for authentic, irreplaceable cultural experiences and aims to make Chuncheon a place for art “only possible here.” Curators contacted individual artists directly, even handling some transport, and admission is free to promote accessibility. The exhibition traces its roots to Yanggu white clay (Yanggu baekto) — a traditional material used in Joseon white porcelain — with artifacts loaned by the Yanggu Baekja Museum integrated into contemporary works. Highlights include experiments with white clay mixing local sands (artist Cheon Wook-hwan), ceramic installations that blur function and form (Koo Da-young), glass engravings capturing fragile memory (Park Si-wol), a rice-grain human form linking food and human heritage (Lee Ye-seon), expressive painting exploring suppressed instincts (Kim Ryun-ah), and gentle, layered landscapes inspired by Jeju (Kim Hyun-soo). The fair draws praise for its rare concentration of ceramics and regional voices, and is supported by Chuncheon city and local cultural institutions.
