Namyangju City held the 39th Dasan Jeong Yak-yong Cultural Festival from May 18–19 around the Jeong Yak-yong historic site and Dasan Ecological Park, celebrating the legacy of scholar Dasan Jeong Yak-yong. Under the theme “Beyond Time, Again! Dasan,” the festival blended traditional culture, cutting-edge technology, and local community programs. Highlights included a procession with international students in traditional Confucian scholar attire (yusang), a drone-delivered message symbolizing past-meets-present, and awards for the 2025 Jeong Yak-yong Robot Contest. Performances featured traditional nongak (farmer’s music) and the national intangible heritage folk song “Seonsori Santaryeong,” while children joined a history quiz show. A talk show connected Dasan’s ideas to modern economics, and a tightrope performance promoted intergenerational harmony. Hands-on activities in the “Jeong Yak-yong Future Workshop” offered 3D-pen making, AR experience of the Geojunggi (a traditional Korean crane), and drone coding/FPV sessions. A local farmers’ market supported young and small-scale producers. The festival was recognized as a 2025 Gyeonggi Representative Tourism Festival and received support from Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power, as the city aims to grow the Dasan Jeong Yak-yong brand as a signature cultural-humanities festival.
