As autumn arrives, major Korean orchestras are presenting Beethoven symphonies. The Gyeonggi Philharmonic, led by artistic director Kim Sun-wook, will perform Symphony No.4 and the famous No.5 “Fate” on Oct 24 at Gyeonggi Art Center and Oct 25 at Seoul Arts Center, showcasing orchestral sound without a soloist. Earlier on Oct 21, the KBS Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Yeo Ja-kyung, will present movements from Symphonies Nos.1, 5 (final movement), and 6 (“Pastoral”) plus the first movement of Piano Concerto No.5 “Emperor” with pianist Kim Song-hyun. Broadcaster Daniel Lindemann will provide commentary to make the music and its stories accessible to the general public.
