Violinist Danny Gu will present the “Danny Gu Christmas Concert” on December 24 at Lotte Concert Hall in Seoul. The concert, described by promoter Credia as a warm year-end musical gift, will feature a wide-ranging program that crosses genres. Since debuting in Korea with Ensemble Ditto in 2016, Danny Gu has gained popularity by performing classical, jazz, and pop; he was recognized on JTBC’s Superband 2 and attracted attention with a rare appearance on the TV show I Live Alone (a popular Korean reality program). His first solo recital at the Seoul Arts Center in July was a success. For this holiday show he will be joined by longtime collaborators including pianist Cho Youn-sung, drummer Seok Da-yeon, bassist Sean Pentland, and a brass band with saxophone, trombone, trumpet and flugelhorn. The program will reinterpret pieces like “Blue Flame,” “Humoresque,” “Fly Me to the Moon,” and Christmas classics such as “I’ll Be Home for Christmas.”
