Cheongju will host the 2025 Cheongju Mishingju (Food & Liquor) Festa on May 24–25 at the Munhwajejochang (Culture Factory) lawn, showcasing the city’s food culture, traditional alcohols, and local ingredients. The event aims to promote regional culinary identity and discover new signature dishes. Exhibits and booths include a Cheongju signature dish demonstration and tasting, a food culture pavilion, a traditional liquor pavilion, a jang (fermented paste) pavilion, corporate booths, and a market. Hands-on programs—such as making traditional jang (Korean fermented paste) and side-dish and food decoration workshops—will engage visitors, alongside performances and a “romantic liquor show.” The opening features a free sampling of samgyeopsal (grilled pork belly) cooked on a 20-meter griddle. City officials say the festival will help promote Cheongju’s culinary resources and develop distinctive gourmet tourism offerings.
