South Korea’s Space Agency is hosting the 19th annual meeting of the International Committee on Global Navigation Satellite Systems (ICG) in Busan from Oct. 19–24. The U.N.-affiliated ICG brings together governments and organizations to promote the use and advancement of satellite navigation technologies. Korea, which joined the ICG in 2021, is developing a regional navigation system called KPS (Korean Positioning System) and secured the meeting as host. About 15 member countries, 21 non‑voting members and observer organizations participating will coordinate on signals and services, share R&D and policy trends, and discuss future navigation technologies such as low Earth orbit (LEO) and lunar navigation. The Space Agency said it will use the meeting to strengthen international cooperation and closely collaborate with ICG members to support Korea’s ongoing KPS development.
