Matin Kim, a popular K-fashion brand known as a must-visit spot in Myeong-dong, is poised to reach about 200 billion won in annual sales after a 40-fold increase over six years. The brand credits fast-following of trends, the Hallyu (Korean Wave) effect, and aggressive offline expansion for growth. Unlike many rivals that rely mostly on clothing, Matin Kim’s revenue is split nearly evenly between apparel and accessories, helping stabilize sales amid a weak domestic apparel market. Currently operating 60 domestic and 9 overseas stores (including locations in Hong Kong, Taiwan, Macao, and Japan), the company plans up to five additional stores in Hong Kong, Taiwan and Macao this year and aims to open stores in Osaka and Nagoya next year to strengthen its Japan strategy.
