The 18th Chuncheon Makguksu-Dakgalbi Festival ran from Oct. 16–19 along the Gongjicheon (Gongji Stream) promenade, attracting over 300,000 visitors and generating an estimated ₩10 billion (about $8 million) boost to the local economy. Branded under the vision “K-food city Chuncheon, embracing the world,” the event showcased leading local dakgalbi (spicy stir-fried chicken) and makguksu (buckwheat noodle) restaurants, plus citizen-participation cultural programs—busking, mime, puppet parades—and family activity booths. City officials credited local businesses and orderly crowds for the record turnout and vowed to expand the festival to cement Chuncheon’s reputation as a top Korean food destination.
