Travelers hike Glacier National Park's Many Glacier area to reach the famed Grinnell Glacier Trail. Despite fatigue from a previous long trek, the author and companions push through a roughly 15–17 km hike, navigating lakes like Swiftcurrent, Josephine, and the turquoise Grinnell Lake. They briefly lose the trail, making a wrong turn that adds distance, but regroup and make it to scenic viewpoints. The area offers classic alpine scenery, wildlife sightings (bighorn sheep and possible bears), and the historic Many Glacier Hotel—an Alpine-style lodge with no internet or phone service—inviting the idea of staying a month for daily hikes and nature immersion. Note: Glacier NP’s high season is July–August; services reduce after September and Going-to-the-Sun Road may require reservations.
