A 1919 gouache (opaque watercolor) by Pablo Picasso, titled 'Still Life with Guitar', went missing while being transported to a temporary exhibition at the CajaGranada cultural center in Granada, Spain. The small work (9.8 cm x 12.7 cm) arrived by van from Madrid on Sept. 3; staff say all items were moved on camera from the van into a freight elevator and then into the gallery, with no suspicious activity seen on continuous surveillance footage. The absence of the painting was only noticed after unpacking on Sept. 6. Local police and an international stolen-art database have been notified; Spanish authorities have opened an investigation. The privately owned painting was insured for about €600,000 (roughly 1 billion KRW). Past high-profile Picasso thefts and recoveries underscore that his works are sometimes targeted by thieves.
